Teachtoday is a Deutsche Telekom initiative for the promotion of safe and competent media use.

The protection of your personal data is very important to Deutsche Telekom AG, Friedrich-Ebert-Allee 140, 53113 Bonn, Germany. We think it is paramount to inform you about what personal information we collect during your visits to our websites, how we use this information and what choices you have therein. This privacy notice provides answers to the key questions.
2. What data is collected and how is it used?
a) For the provision of our services
Technical features: When you visit our webpages, our servers temporarily record the domain name or IP address of your computer as well as file requests from the client (file name and URL) and the http response code along with the website from which you visit us. This data is deleted after your Internet session.

Cookies:
- For certain services we use cookies, which are stored on your computer only for the duration of one Internet session. These so-called session cookies are needed for transactions (for example, simplified logins to the portal) and contain only one transaction ID.

- For certain services we use persistent cookies, which serve for website analysis and are stored for future sessions on your computer. These cookies are valid for a maximum of 3 months. You have the option of setting your browser so that these cookies are not stored or the cookies are deleted at the end of your Internet session. Please note, however, not all the functions of our webpages may work correctly in this case.
Identity information:
- The object and purpose of the service is to promote the safe and competent use of media as well as to support and tailored fostering of each user’s individual skills and competencies in dealing with digital media.

- Thus to take advantage of the services, personal identification information is required for the user to log in, such as name, address, telephone number, email address as well as details about the user’s education.
b) For legal purposes
We use your data for purposes that have been provisioned in law. For the detection of abuse and for the detection and elimination of errors, we store your IP address for seven days.
3. Where is my data processed?
Your data will principally be processed in Germany. Only in exceptional cases will the data processing take place abroad in accordance with legal provisions.
4. How secure is my data?
In accordance with German law, we have taken extensive technical and operational security measures to protect your data against unauthorized access and misuse.
5. Will my data be passed on to third parties, for instance to the authorities?
Yes, some data must be forwarded, but under strict contractual and legal conditions:

a) To external service providers for data processing: In the case that service providers receive personal information about our customers, this is done in the context of what is known as contract data processing, which is expressly provisioned by law (§ 11 German Federal Data Protection Act). Deutsche Telekom remains responsible in this case for the protection of your data. The processing service provider works solely in accordance with our instructions, which we ensure through strict contractual arrangements, through technical and organizational measures and additional controls.

(b) Due to legal obligations: In certain cases, we are legally obliged to transmit data to a requesting authority.

Upon presentation of a court order, we are obliged under § 101 of the German Copyright Act to provide information to holders of copyright and related rights about our customers who are accused of offering copyright protected works in online file-sharing networks. In these cases, the information we transfer contains the user ID of an IP address that is assigned at the requested time and, if known, name and address of the customer.

Beyond the listed cases, we do not transmit data to third parties unless you expressly provide consent or it is legally provisioned.
6. Is my IP address stored?
In order to expose abuses (spam, viruses, worms, etc.) as well as to identify and eliminate errors in our network, your IP address is stored for seven days from the end of the connection.
7. Website analysis with Piwik
We want to extend our websites and make improvements that match your interests.

Therefore, data from this website is collected and stored with Piwik web analytic services for marketing as well as optimization purposes (improvement of the efficacy of actions, optimization of advertising on third-party offers, content-related adjustments). To do so, Piwik uses “cookies” that are saved to your computer and allow us to analyze your use of our website. For this purpose, the use of information generated by the cookie (including your abbreviated IP address) is transferred to our server and stored for analysis, which we use for website optimization. Your IP address is anonymized so that you remain anonymous to us as a user. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is not disclosed to third parties. You can prevent the use of cookies in your browser software’s settings; however, doing so may inhibit your use of the complete functions of this webpage.
9. Can I get information about my stored data?
You can request information free of charge about the scope, the origin and the recipients of the data, as well as the purpose for storage.
10. Can I correct data
At any time, you may request that incorrect data be corrected.
